The Playground 7 UnRules

I been taking my baby to the playground lately. I love it because I get my exercise done by walking there and she gets to see other children. She is not walking yet so she enjoys for the most part the slides with my help and mainly the swing!  I have notice she loves to bee with other children and she learns from the older ones so fast; as I been learning from other moms there. =)

Here are my 7 UnRules for the Playground

1. Bring sunscreen protect your baby's skin!

2. Don't bring your baby sick.

3. Don't be a germo-phobe you are at the playground! You  will not be able to clean the whole playground with wipes! ( I actually saw a mom trying to do this) wash hands once you leave.

4. Pick up your spills. If you bring milk, snacks, wipes, diapers pick up after your trash.

5. Wait for your turn but don't hover. If the swing is busy don't rush a "Mom/kid" out of the swing. You never know that might be her only break during the day.

6. Be considerate of other Parents and your baby will learn to be considerate of other babies.

7. Never leave someone else watching your child nor accept that request from anyone.

Well those are my "UnRules" from the top of my head!

Oh and for the New Mothers out there! you can bring your baby to the swings from the moment they can hold their head on their own! some what around 3 months. This is a great way to get some fresh air.

Well hope this information helps some moms out there!

Much love,

Anny.

My 5 Favorite Mommy Power Foods

For those who know me have always asked me Why? Why are you vegetarian and Why don't you eat meat, chicken or Fish? And my answer is always the same. Since I been vegetarian I feel better, "lighter" and there is not even a craving. And lest say I know Im ingesting less of the hormones and preservatives in food considering I mostly eat organic produce as much as I can.
I have been fully vegetarian for about 5 years! I can thank much of the great transition to certain food that I know hear called "power food". These 5 foods have been a staple to keep energy up during my first year of motherhood!

Here is the list:

1. Avocados
Have them in salads, sandwiches, by them selves on top of a soup. any why or form they are fab!

2.Quinoa
is like a lighter rice but richer in protein! is key to having energy all day long!

3.Sea weed sheets.
You can find these any where tons, costco, trader joe's, online. Have them like chips or like burrito holders for your quiona you will love these!

4. What I call the B&V. Berries & Veggies!!
Eat them! simple as that.

5. Organic Dark Chocolate
come on! we have to have our lil Chocolate!! and i think  i have to tell you how to enjoy this one!  =)

Ok Those are my Mommy power food Favorites! Easy to have. Super Healthy Energetic & Tasty!

Enjoy!

With much love,

Anny

The First Years Home Made Bday Cake Ideas

She is turning one year very soon! And I have been thinking of how much effort I been putting towards her nutrition. Making sure she is well nourished with organic food and home made meals of carrots, apples and you all know the rest. Then comes the first Birth Day cake and it all goes down hill with all the sugar and preservatives from store cakes to home made box cakes filled with not very organic nourishing ingredients. And I know.. What ever! It’s their first Birthday Cake nothing happened to us.  But for me is making sense to make the effort to make a very tasty not so unhealthy sweet home made cake. So I Been researching on how and what are the possibilities here are some I found and wanted to share with you all.

Use applesauce instead of oil ia a very simple one.

Make a Pumpkin Vegan cake or muffins wit the following

2 1/4 cups flour

1 cup brown sugar

1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground ginger
1 1/4 cups pumpkin puree (10 ounces)
1/2 cups soy milk
Egg replacer for 2 eggs
1/3 cup vegan margarine

I made this muffins a few months I only used organic ingredients and whole-wheat organic flour and I loved them!

The frostings make it with whipped cream cheese or organic cream and a bit of natural sugar

A based organic carrot cake would be another good idea

              2 cups organic grated carrots
              1 1/2 cups organic raisins
              2 cups water
              1 1/2 tsp organic cinnamon
              1 1/2 tsp organic allspice
              1/2 tsp organic cloves
              1 cup sugar
              1/2 tsp salt
              3 cups whole-wheat organic flour
1 1/2 tsp organic baking soda

Another idea for the frosting is Mix 1 tub of cool whip with 1 small package of instant pudding (any flavor & you can even use sugar free). Frost the cake then refrigerate (in the refrigerator the icing will thicken to regular butter cream consistency). The only drawback is that you can't use it as decorating icing (it's not firm enough to make flowers with).

I hope the ideas are helpful for some moms out there.

Much Love,

Anny.

I am a Mom & I Practice Yoga

Yoga has never left my side my practice has gone from the mat to every day life. Of course I am eager to get to the mat every time I can. If I have five minutes when i wake up before the baby does I take them to breath notice my body and how I feel. I then set an intention for the rest of the day & I try to carry that feeling and state of mind during the rest of my day. Sometimes is a challenge but habits come from practice and the only thing i wont do is to give up.

I wanted to share a little bit of my yoga background I became a Yoga Teacher last year by my beautiful amazing Guru, Guide, Teacher &  inspiration Kim Manfredi and her lovely team Camille Moses Allen & Marisella our meditation guide. I want to take a moment to publicly thank them for changing my life and guiding me in a journey that I am certain will follow for the rest of my life.
Hopefully I will share the practice not only with students but with my family, friends and my baby. They say children emulate parents and I surely hope she notices the good things like a daily practice. Wether is on the mat or during a walk, a conversation, or a tough decision. Of course I am also deeply grateful for my kula! my fellow yoginis and yogi that went through the same training as me. And my husband that practically & literally traveled for this adventure as my support and friend.
Also thank you Baltimore for being the witness! at  Charm City Yoga the house of the journey. www.charmcityyoga.com/

I have mentioned on my facebook earlier this week that I have always tried to share with people my yoga training experience and describe with words what Kim Manfredi my teacher was like and how it felt learning from her and I found this video sharing a bit of who she is.  I think this may help people see a bit more of what yoga means to me through my teachers practice. I hope  one day can emulate my passion for yoga in my own way, as she does by sharing her practice. YogaArt.

Namaste.

San Diego Baby Friendly Restaurants or Not?

Here are some Baby Friendly Restaurants that my family and I have visited recently.

Shortly after mothers day we went to Sammy's wood fired pizza Horton Plaza. I have always loved Sammys food specially the salads! Well the space was great. The service and was awesome! The bathrooms had great space and clean changing tables for the babies! Im rating at a high 4!
http://www.sammyspizza.com/

Remember the scale is 5 being the best to 1 being the worst baby friendly.

Andiamo-ristorante Tierra Santa. This is one of my favorite local place! the Food the service is awesome not only that! the waiter was up for running to the gas station for a bottle of water helping us make  our babies food in time so we wouldn't have to rush our dinner. Once our baby got fussy he offered to hold her in her arms. Mentioned a new born 3 weeks old had come in and also held him for like 15 mins so the family could eat! is that baby friendly or what?  In the bathroom there is a big bench that is part of the ambiance of the restaurant that works great as changing table.  For the first time I am giving a big old 5 in the baby friendly rating. Congrats Andiamo! and thank you for great service!

Broken Yolk

Broken Yolk Cafe Pacific Beach  Recently we have visited constantly this spot for breakfast is soo soo good! and really family baby friendly! I am rating this place with a high 4 in the baby friendly rating! Great Service, Great food, Great stroller accessibility  or high chair and great bathrooms!
http://thebrokenyolkcafe.com/

Not so baby friendly,

Burger lounge, Little Italy. Sadly Because I love what this restaurant stands for and the quality of the food is great! There is no changing table for the babies and its not really roomy when you try to walk in with the stroller. oh well sadly its getting a baby friendly rating of 2.5 hope as they grow they consider the space for the families that love to eat healthy like ours! So families out there i encourage to take out on this place. ;)
